Valley Reality of Healthcare in Southeastern Ohio
15 Items
According to Cincinnati.com, Athens County is the poorest county in Ohio. This unfortunate financial circumstance is reflected in the poor healthcare available in the county's communities. OhioHealth is the main healthcare provider of southeastern Ohio. Though their presence is seen, their reputation for having sub-par treatment and medical personnel is more widely known. This thread is a reflection of that.
I first asked the question "Do you trust O'Bleness hospital to accurately assist you and your medical needs?"to my followers on Instagram, the majority of whom are Ohio University students who would have experienced or heard of experiences at O'Bleness Hospital.
The first response came from a former Ohio University student who spent 5 years in Athens.
The second response came from an Albany, Ohio, resident who has recently been experiencing shoulder and knee ligament issues, and has visited the O'Bleness emergency room twice in the last year. He reported experiencing sub-par care and extremely long wait times.
I then posed the question to the Twittersphere as well. The results were along the same lines at Instagram.
In exploring OhioHealth's social media accounts, it was clear that many people had been voicing their frustrations with the company's inability to accurately assist them.
