Dear Parents,
Yesterday, excited pupils celebrated Halloween! What spooky Halloween costumes were everywhere to be seen and everyone was amazed to see dozens of carved pumpkins, big and small, all very beautifully decorated!
It was most unfortunate that, due to infection prevention measures, parents were unable to see their children parading in their Halloween costumes, participating in seven exciting Halloween activities, and going around the school with bags of candy, trick or treating!
Due to the government's decision to declare Saturday, 30th October to Sunday, 7th November a non-working week, we have decided to extend the school holiday. School will remain closed from Monday, 1st November to Wednesday, 3rd November. Thursday, 4th and Friday, 5th November are national holidays.
School will reopen on Monday, 8th November.
In order to make up the three school days lost, the following days will be normal school days: Monday, 21st and Tuesday, 22nd February; Friday, 1st July.
This decision was made, based on the current situation. Should there be any further announcements, we will inform you immediately.
We extend sincere thanks to you for your understanding and support in these unpredictable and challenging times.
As always, I invite you to contact us at school, if you have any questions or concerns.
Regards,
Geoff Ward – Head of School

What a wonderful Autumn Festival! Thank you to all parents for getting into the spirit of Halloween! Spooky and imaginative creations were worn by all! Together the children designed spooky monsters and wicked witches and furry spiders. They even thought of magical spells using slimy concoctions! All the classes entered into the spirit of decorating a Halloween door. We ended the day by collecting sweets as we moved around the school with a trick or treat. What a fantastic way to end our first half-term! Now we are looking forward to a restful time in the holidays, before we get busy with our Celebrations unit, which we always enjoy! We hope you all have a great holiday and we look forward to welcoming you back refreshed for the next half-term.
YEAR 1
This week, the Year 1s completed their Maths and Reading tests. Most of them received full marks; others made one or two minor mistakes. We were so proud of them that we rewarded them with an unforgettable Halloween experience.
Before the day of celebration came, we prepared by making our own witches and upside-down bats with various colours of paper and googly eyes. Our witches even had brooms and frizzy hair – detail that the Year 1s added (We know, even the older kids couldn’t believe they did it by themselves!). On Thursday, we finally celebrated Halloween. Every single kid in Year 1 looked stunning! They looked scary AND beautiful simultaneously. They were rowdy and kept jumping, shouting and running, but we condoned it – kids need to forget about work sometimes and have proper fun.
We look forward to Autumn Term 2, when we jump right back into the academics. In the meantime, happy holidays!
