Dear Parents,
Welcome to this week’s newsletter. At the time of writing we are preparing for our Primary sponsored walk tomorrow, we will ensure there are plenty of photo’s in next week’s newsletter. Our Secondary sponsored walk will take place on Friday 3rd June (weather permitting), details of which will be sent to you next week.
This week students have been enjoying the warmer temperatures, with some lessons taking place outside. Students in Years 11-13 have now finished most of their exams, ready for us to begin submitting the evidence to the exam boards next week. Well done to them all for keeping their focus during these uncertain times.

Coming up:

  • 16th May – 22nd June - additional hours begin next week. Please refer to the numerous emails that I have sent about this during the week (apologies for overburdening your inboxes).
  • 10th June - International Day. We welcome parent participation in this event, please let me know if there is an activity you would like to offer.

Have a great weekend.

Key Stage 1

YEAR 1. This week in English in Year 1, we have continued looking at the story 'How to Catch a Star'. We drew pictures and/or wrote sentences to retell the story. We also looked at different prepositions to describe where the star is. In Maths we have looked at the easiest way to add three small numbers together by first looking for pairs of numbers that make 10 or double numbers to help us. In Science, we recapped what we remember about the season of summer. We looked at how to stay safe in the sun by using sun cream and wearing hats and sunglasses. We also discussed why we should never look directly at the sun. In Topic, we looked at the first female pilot to fly across the Atlantic Ocean alone, Amelia Earhart. Finally, we ended our week with our sponsored walk to 50th Anniversary of October Park. A great time was had by all!
YEAR 2. This week we finished of our phonics by focusing on 'sion' and 'cian' ending words and magic 'e' words, but we will continue that into next week, and some focused on 'oa' words. We also wrote about our holiday experiences in English. In Maths, we wrapped up a couple of mastery checkpoints on mental addition and subtraction as well as some challenging worded problems. In Art, we drew mansions and added backgrounds with finer details. Finally, in PSHE we went further in depth regarding personal hygiene. Well done! In Russian (non-native) Y2 learned a few new words about household equipment.
ART. Year 2 children made flowers from egg cartons ,they painted petals, made stems ,leaves and placed everything on their painted background.
