The Microsoft Global Learning Connection engages hundreds of thousands of students from over 110 countries annually and celebrates connections made via Teams, Flipgrid, and Skype.
Through thousands of connections made over 48 hours, you are helping to open hearts and minds around the world.
This year’s Microsoft Global Learning Connection will focus on filling students’ hearts and minds with optimism, resilience, and compassion. Our goal for the event is to collectively travel around the world to celebrate the combined efforts of our global community.

Microsoft Global Learning Connection is a 48-hour annual global learning event that makes it possible for students to travel the world virtually and connect beyond their classroom via Teams, Flipgrid and Skype. Join us this year for #MSFTGlobalConnect- on November 10-11 - as we aim to travel around the world, connect hundreds of thousands of students and fill their hearts and minds with optimism, resilience and compassion.

Microsoft Global Learning Connection is a 48-hour celebration of global learning. Thousands of students, educators and guest speaker are joining us every year as they aim to travel the world virtually via Microsoft Teams, Flipgrid and Skype to meet new friends, open hearts and minds, and see how many virtual miles can be travelled in 48 hours around the world.
Learning Objectives
Students will
• use speaking and listening skills to communicate with their peers as well as another class during a Teams or Flipgrid, or Skype connection.
• use research skills to prepare in advance prior to the Teams, Flipgrid, or Skype connection.
• use geography skills to find a location using a map and describe the location as it relates to the world.
• determine commonalities and differences.
• generate ideas and questions prior to participating in the Teams, Flipgrid, or Skype connection.
• summarize and reflect about what they learned.
• collaborate with other students around the world.
• connect what they are learning in school to real-world topics, discussions, and collaborations with experts.
• develop empathy and compassion for others.
• develop optimism and resilience during interactions and connections.
• create an emotional connection to what they are learning.

Mote Marine Laboratory
Mote Marine Laboratory is a world-class, nonprofit, marine research institution located in Sarasota, FL. We provide informal science education to pre-K children through adults, aligning with state and national education standards with a focus on marine research themes through exciting, interactive lessons and authentic research experiences.
Award-winning Content
Mote Aquarium is proud to be accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and has met rigorous, professional standards for animal care, wildlife conservation and research, education and more. Our virtual learning program has received numerous accolades and awards over its twenty year history, including numerous Pinnacle Awards. The Pinnacle Award is given annually by the Center for Interactive Learning and Collaboration to organizations that receive outstanding scores on program evaluations submitted by teachers. The award recognizes remarkable quality of educational content and exceptional skill at program delivery. Mote also received the Interactive Video Conference Content Provider Award from the International Society for Technology in Education.
