During the Feb. 18 meeting, Macon-Bibb County Commissioners approved a $13.4 million construction contract for the new executive terminal at Middle Georgia Regional Airport and agreed to a $1.8 million match for a $5.5 million GDOT grant for new airplane hangars. Commissioners also allocated $3.6 million in SPLOST funds for recreation center renovations at Memorial Gym, Frank Johnson in Unionville and Filmore Thomas Park. To provide shelter for the unhoused, they dispersed more than $148,000 in HUD Emergency Solutions Grants, and allocated additional SPLOST dollars for fire station technology and radio tower repairs. The county also extended the contract for SPLOST project manager to continue in that role if the one-penny sales tax is renewed this year.
